Trigger Nikon D90 using TV remote

Sometimes you have to use exposure time longer than available by default 30 seconds one. But when it comes to use BULB mode you'll pretty fast realize that you have actually three options:
  • hold down shutter button all time (iron fingers anyone?)
  • use  trigger cable
  • use infrared remote
For more advanced cameras another option might be using multi-exposure (max three pictures in D90) together with intervalometer but unfortunately D90 doesn't have latter feature.

To the point -  if you found yourself already heading to closest photo store hold on for a second and look around if you don't have programmable , maybe even unused TV / multidevice remote at your home.

If you'll find one simply use code 0298 to program it and now you are able to trigger your camera. In my case 4, 5 and 7 button are working.
Now you can wake up in the middle of the night and play with lights a little bit like a boss.

This is my remote, to program it I need to hold Set button (middle) and device button (tv 1, tv 2, etc), next after power button is highlighted constantly I use numeric part of device to enter 4-number code. Done.

Found another code or solution working with your camera?  Don't be shy , comment and share with others. Enjoy.
